Kertar is the Founder and Managing Director of the Firm. His practice is largely litigation-based, both civil/commercial and criminal litigation.
After graduating with LL.B (Honours) from the United Kingdom, Kertar gained admission to the English Bar (Middle Temple Inn) in 1994. In 1995, Kertar was called to the Singapore Bar and has since been in active practice.
Prior to practicing law, Kertar completed 26 years of distinguished service with the Singapore Police Force, acquiring knowledge in almost every aspect of the criminal law; needless to say his experience in the Singapore Police Force continues to complement his criminal practice. Kertar has substantial experience in acting as defence and prosecution counsel. In respect of white-collar crime, Kertar advises local and foreign companies on issues ranging from insider trading to anti-money laundering. As a result of Kertar’s broad-based criminal practice, he attends to matters in the Subordinate Courts and the Appellate Courts. He is one of the leading lawyers at the Criminal Bar.
Apart from being a member of the Law Society of Singapore, Kertar is a legal advisor to various Chinese Clan Associations and Chinese Temples.
Kertar is fluent in English, Hokkien, Teochew, Bahasa Melayu (Malay), Hindi and Punjabi.
